The order of the day for industry as a major consumer is the efficient use of energy and resources. The ISO 50001 standard obliges companies to continuously and verifiably reduce consumption. However, existing plants often cannot be completely equipped with new energy-saving motors. Therefore other strategies are required.
For modern control systems starting from PLC S7 datec enables the energy management system energy_control. The system uses idle phases of individual plant components to switch them off. In the basic version, the running and downtimes are recorded for each unit in order to enable differentiated evaluations later on. Special electricity meters with signal output can also be used; if necessary, individual groups can be displayed in a differentiated manner.
